Welcoming Address – Dr. Ned Doffoney, Chancellor, North Orange County CCD

How to Work with Instruction to Maximize Enrollment Revenue – Kathy Blackwood, CFO, San Mateo Community College District, will discuss strategies for managing enrollment and productivity as well as how to effectively communicate with faculty.

Apportionment & Budget Update – Diane Brady, Fiscal Services Specialist, System Office, will provide updates on the final 2007/2008 closing data and an update on the 2008-2009 Budget Act.

Fraud Case Study and the Importance of Old School Controls – Tania Walden, CIA, CBA, MBA, District Auditor, Los Rios CCD and Judy Vroman, CPA, CIA, CFE, Manager of Audit Services, Contra Costa CCD, will present a case study on bookstore fraud and discuss the importance of “old school” cash controls to prevent and detect fraud and embezzlement.

Sustainability through Energy and Resource Efficient Construction – Ron Beeler, District Director of Facilities Planning & Construction, North Orange County CCD, will present a general overview of energy efficient construction and best practices.

Information Security – How Secure is Your District? – Adam Jacobs, CISSP, Information Security Officer, Contra Costa CCD, will present an overview of key information security risks and discuss how an information security program can help districts mitigate these risks.

Integrating Business Strategy and Internal Controls – EthicsPoint, Inc., will discuss how organizations can align internal controls and compliance activities with their business strategy and operating model, and how to use technology to manage a broad set of issues and events, integrating these activities, and moving from a reactive to pro-active mindset.

Regulatory Updates – Heidi White, CPA, Partner with Vavrinek, Trine, Day & Co., LLP, will provide a regulatory update focusing on recently issued Statement on Auditing Standards and other pronouncements that impact community colleges.

Roundtable – This is your opportunity to talk with your peers around the State and get their advice on budget, accounting and procedural matters.
